This is a story about a cat. A cat who was once a tiny kitten, a small and clumsy ball of fluff. The kitten had siblings and some of them she liked. She had a mother who provided her with milk and sometimes gave her a few kisses. One day before she was ready, she set off on her own to a new home.
Upon arrival she felt what can only be described as joy. A gentleman with grey hair, a similar colour to her own awaited. His smile went all the way to his eyes as he bent down to give her a scratch on the head. She enjoyed it very much and followed him into the kitchen where he presented her with a treat. A treat! This was a first. It did not take long for her to feel at home.
After her first night she awoke in a state of confusion. Her response was to mew with all her might, and she continued on until the old man's eyes squinted open. He picked her up and placed her on the bed beside him, smiled at her and began to fall back asleep. Not on my watch she thought to herself. She reached out her small paw and tapped him gently on the nose, once, twice, three times. His eyes opened again and she let out her loudest, angriest mew. It was early morning but it was play time now, and at that moment they both knew who was the new sheriff in town.
